Students from the Lanimea school of animated graphic arts in Caudebec-les-Elbeuf, France, will help develop the Rouen Seine Normande 2028 bid for the title of European Capital of Culture, and their contributions will be considered part of their educational curriculum.

During the bid-preparation phase, one theme that was suggested by many participating residents during the regional creative workshops was “island.” This suggestion and its support are outlined in the bidbook to be submitted by the Rouen Seine Normande 2028 Association before January 2, 2023, in its pursuit of being named European Capital of Culture.

The collaboration between the Lanimea school of animated graphic arts and Rouen Seine Normande 2028 is designed to generate new ideas on this island theme, to add new elements to the cultural program for the European Capital of Culture year in 2028.
Each month, with an expression serving as a creative springboard, Lanimea students will produce graphic content (image, video, modelling, etc.) of any form. The sole objective is to create content based on that designated expression while remaining true to the theme of “island.”

From November 2022 through May 2023, the content the students create will be displayed on a dedicated Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/ileflottante2028.

Anyone may take part in these contributions via the Internet by using the hashtag #ileflottante2028 and entering the accounts @rouen2028 and @ileflottante2028.
